BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The National Lottery authority has a governing Board which oversees the activities of the Authority. The Board has representation from government and some key Ministries as well. They serve a four-year tenure of office subject to renewal by the President. It is constituted as follows:

  • A Chairperson
  • One representative of the Ministry of Interior
  • One representative of the Ministry of Finance
  • One Representative of the Attorney Generals Department
  • Two Government appointees
  • The Director General of the Authority

Executive Management

Mr. Samuel Awuku who is a product of St. Augustine’s College in Cape Coast, also holds a Masters in International Relations from the Freie University, Berlin -Germany and an Executive Education Certificate in Public Leadership from the prestigious Harvard University, (Kennedy School of Government) USA.

Mr Awuku also holds a Diploma of Higher Education in Law from the University of London, a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration(GIMPA) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon where he was affiliated with Commonwealth.

In September 2017, Mr Samuel Awuku was appointed by H.E the President of the Republic of Ghana as the Board Chairman of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA),a specialized government agency charged with the mandate of coordinating and facilitating employment opportunities for young people in Ghana.

Mr Awuku until recently was a Director of Strategy and Innovation at the April-June Company Limited in Accra and also a Director at the BrainHill International School.

He has also served as a Board Member of the Accra City Hotel, from 2017 till date.

On the global space, he has been thrice elected as the Vice Chairman of the International Young Democrats Union (IYDU), an International Association of the youth wings of conservative parties across the world.
He is also a proud alumni of the American Council for Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), a global platform for identifying and nurturing the talents of young future leaders.

In August 2017 he was named “Continental Youth Icon-2017” by the All Africa Students Union (AASU) in recognition of his long-standing contributions towards youth development on the African continent.

Similarly, in August 2014 he was named amongst the top 50 rising African stars by the Paris based Africa Report Magazine.
Aside from the above, he has also at various stages volunteered his services and provided strategic guidance for the development of various civil society platforms aimed at consolidating democracy and advocating for public sector reforms in Ghana
Awuku is also admired for his strong passion and genuine commitment towards democratic governance, youth empowerment, public sector management and institutional governance.

Kplorlali Gbologa is a product of the University of Ghana where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in 1989 and Marriot School of Management, Brigham Young University, USA, where he undertook his post graduate studies and was awarded an MBA degree in 1993.

He was offered the position of General Manager Corporate Planning and Business Development by the NLA in December, 2010. Shortly after joining the NLA, the Authority embarked on an internal restructuring exercise which merged the roles of planning, business development and Sales into one directorate in order to align these interrelated roles for improved results. Kplorlali was tasked with the implementation of this decision and became the Acting Director of the resulting Corporate Planning and Sales Directorate. After a year he was confirmed in the role as the Director.

Mr. Gbologa also previously worked with blue chip companies including Circuit City in the US and Shell Ghana Limited and served in various capacities across other Shell companies in Africa.

Mr Mote, who joined the then Department of National Lotteries (now NLA) in 1988, is currently the Acting Director General. He attended the Institute of Professional Studies (now University of Professional Studies) where he obtained the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Stage 1 certificate.

Mr Mote also holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and is currently pursuing an MBA in Accounting and Taxation from the same institution.

Ms. Bruce, currently the Director responsible for VAG, joined NLA in October, 2011 as General Manager– Administration & Human Resources / Board Secretary. Prior to her appointment with NLA she worked as the Head of Legal and Board Secretary for Shell Ghana Limited from 1999 to 2011. During her stint with Shell Ghana, she was posted to London in 2007 on an international assignment as a Legal Advisor with Shell International, UK.

She also worked for Ghana Supply Commission as Procurement Manager for five (5) years and was Consultant/Procurement Manager for Crown Agents for another two (2) years.

Ms. Bruce is a Barrister-at-Law and is a member of the Ghana Bar Association. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences) degree from the University of Science and Technology (now KNUST) and an MBA Finance) option from the University of Ghana.

George is a Chartered Marketer and holds a Graduate Diploma in International Marketing from the London School of International Business, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from London Guildhall University and an MBA from London South Bank University.
He was awarded a Honorary Doctorate of Public Administration by the Commonwealth University in october, 2015. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, UK and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, and Institute of Loan and Risk Management Ghana.He is also a Chartered member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK. Dr. Gyamfi-Osew is currently the Director of Operations at NLA, a position he was appointed to in June 2013. Prior to this appointment, he was the Director of Special Projects from 2011 to 2013. George is the pioneer Marketing and Sales Director, a position he held from 2003 to 2011 and a former Vice President of Manet International Corporation, Real Estate Developers.

Prior to joining the then Department of National Lotteries (now NLA), Dr. Gyamfi-Osew was the Managing Partner of George and Associates, a Business Strategy Consulting firm.

He has several years experience within the service management environment with British Telecommunications PLC where he worked as a Global Finance Service Executive.

Before joining BT, he was a Group Manager with Chapel Ash Securities Limited – a Financial Services Company.

George has served as a Member of the Governing Council, Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, Member of the Marketing/Advertising/Sponsorship Subcommittee, CAN 2008 Local Olympic Committee, and an adjunct faculty member of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. He is the Life Patron of Chartered Institute of Marketing Students Association, Ghana. In January, 2010, George was inducted into the International Who Is Who Historical Society of Professionals. George is the current President/Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, Ghana Branch. George is dedicated to Coaching and Mentoring the Youth.

Mr. Tobias Aryee is a product of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology where he obtained his Bsc.Computer Science. He also holds an MBA in Project management from the University of Ghana Business School.

Tobias has over 13years experience in Information Technology. He has worked with Mobil Oil Ghana Ltd as a Global Information Assistance and also worked with Cutting Edge Ghana Ltd, an IT firm focused on IT Consulting and assisting organizations achieve real value with ICT as a lead Solution Consultant. He has run ICT projects for organizations such as Unibank, Met Insurance, Oxford and Beaumont Solicitors (Now ENS Africa –Ghana Office), Office of the President, Ministry of Health and Finance, Domod and Unimax among others.

His experience spans around Enterprise Architecture, Business Solutions, Infrastructure Management, Network, ICT Security, Vulnerability Assessment and Alignment of business objectives with Information technology.

Mr Lawrence Dzikunu, a Chartered Accountant, is currently the Director-E-kiosk at NLA. Prior to this he was the Director-Finance and before this he also served as Chief Internal Auditor of NLA. Before joining NLA, Mr. Dzikunu worked for Ghana Civil Aviation Authority from October 1994 to October 2006 as an Accounts Manager, and then as Internal Auditor.

Mr. Dzikunu is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana) and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast. Immediately after graduation, he was employed as an Assistant Internal Auditor with the University and was later appointed as an Account Officer with the University of Cape Coast Hospital where he worked for a year. He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Business Administration at the University of Ghana, Legon.

A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (GH) with six (6) years post qualification and over eight years managerial experience, Mrs Agyekum also holds obtained an Executive MBA, Finance option degree from University of Ghana Business School. She is also currently pursuing a professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Taxation (GH) and is at the final level. She was appointed the Acting Head of Finance in June 2013. PRior to this appointment she was the Chief Accountant, a portfolio she still holds. She was also the Ag. Internal Auditor for a period of about two (2) year.
